Volunteer

Volunteers have always been at the core of our garden. There are myriad opportunities to volunteer in a way that’s joyful to you, and as a small, independent, non-profit, we count on our community to keep us going!

Come garden with us

Our Director of Horticulture hosts regular volunteer gardening hours on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, April through November. Volunteers also help grow our plant sale collection in the historic FDR greenhouses. All are welcome—no prior experience required.

Prefer a one-time project? Join our list to hear about occasional work parties, when we gather a larger crew for special garden projects.

Help welcome and inspire visitors

We’re always looking for friendly volunteers to share the story and beauty of the garden with visitors as Garden Interpreters—answering questions, offering context, and helping people feel at home here.

Support concerts and special events

Lend a hand at garden concerts, talks, and community events—helping with setup, greeting guests, and keeping things running smoothly.

Have another skill to share?

We’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s photography, carpentry, hospitality, or something else entirely, let us know how you’d like to contribute.
