Guided Group Tours
Guided group tours for groups of 10 people or larger are popular. Garden clubs, service clubs, businesses, school classes, even family reunions frequently arrange group tours. The tour will be given by a professional staff person, and will last 45 minutes to an hour, depending on questions.
The tour includes information about the history of the garden which was designed by Beatrix Farrand in 1912, the story of Farrand who changed the look of American gardens, the story of the garden’s discovery and restoration by volunteers, the huge variety of plant species that are seen in the garden, the famous color schemes and design ideas that Farrand pioneered, the connection between the garden and the National Park Service, and information about the wildlife that enjoys the variety of plants in both the historic walled and the newer native plant gardens. Your group leader can suggest an emphasis on either history, horticulture, or youth.
There is a donation of $10 per tour attendee.
Free parking and all services are 2 minutes away at the Wallace Center.
