Coreopsis are long-blooming garden showboats, nothing to do with ticks! (They are unfortunately named “tickseed” because of their little black seeds’ resemblance to the critters). There are many, many Coreopsis cultivars, with different flower colors and leaf textures, of varying merit. But this straight native species needs no alteration. You can end your hunt for the right coreopsis here and now!

Dense tufts of 18” - 2’ tall handsome green leaves fill out a space and suppress weeds quickly in spring. Sunny yellow flowers are held aloft above the leaves in late May or early June, ushering a summer feel into the garden early.
